After the release of "In This Light and on This Evening" in October 2009, Editors recieved some criticism for what can only be described as a new musical direction. The album is darker, more seductive then their previous work. It was this new sound that made me fall in love with Editors, the first release of In This Light and on This Evening, Papillon was unlike anything in the charts. So when I found out my new favorite band were playing at Preston Guild Hall I bought myself a ticket.
Standing right beside the amps at the front of the stage it felt like the bass line of the music had replaced the blood which was running through my vains. I could feel every note, every word.
Starting out with the title track "In This Light and on This Evening" and played through a list of songs old and new including Munich, Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors, and my personal favourite, The Big Exit.
While the member of venue security seemed to hate the night - complaining that the music was f*****g emo s**t (its indie music actualy, get your facts right!) - not a single fan seemed to leave the gig dissapointed.
Every song was played with love, passion and perfection. Being so close to the guys in action made the night even more special. Editors have such a passion for what they do. If you get a chance to see them on tour, go for it, you won't be dissapointed - these guys know how to put on a show.
